Partha Shaw created his own artistic expression which is characteristically Indian but at the same time steeped in modernity. He works mainly with landscapes but in a very contemporary style. Instead of abstract representation, he use figures in his paintings to represent what he would like to convey to the viewer – known as ‘Figurative Symbolism.’ He attempts to transform melancholy landscapes into urbanscapes, using colours such as gold, grey, white and blue and creates a feel of mystery and fantasy.
